Analysis of Problems Encountered in Medical Injection Prototyping
Background Information:
Customer: Singapore customer
Production area: 74,000 square feet
Distribution location: Anhui, China, Malaysia
Customer requirements:
Top tolerance: ±0.002
Smoothness: Ra 0.4 or less
Problem Description:
During the medical needle prototyping process with a Singaporean customer, we encountered some challenges. In the first proofing, we failed to meet the customer’s requirements for finish.
Solution discussion:
To address this issue, we convened an internal meeting to discuss possible solutions. Here are some of our proposed improvements:
Try new processing methods: We decided to break through the traditional processing methods and try new methods to improve the finish. By introducing new processes and technologies, we can achieve the required finish in one process, thus avoiding the need for secondary polishing.
Increase the projector magnification: We decided to increase the projector magnification in order to find out in time whether the finish is up to standard. This allows real-time monitoring and adjustment during processing to ensure that each workpiece meets customer requirements.
Improvement process:
We did a second proof and went through multiple reworks and NG cycles to find a way to meet the tolerances while still maintaining a smooth finish. However, we encountered a new problem during this process, that is, the workpiece was deformed. Nonetheless, we communicated with our customers in a timely manner, reported the situation to them, and expressed our determination and efforts.
Due to our active communication and unremitting efforts with our customers, our customers are very satisfied with our work attitude. They understood the difficulty of the artifact and encouraged us to keep trying. Looking forward to success in our third proofing.
